Daniel Neumann (he/him) is a prominent sound engineer in New York City and abroad, originally from Leipzig, Germany. In this interview, Daniel discusses his work as a “triangle” between sound engineering, sound art, and organizing different ensembles that he has carried with him throughout his long and accomplished career. Daniel explains the challenge of balancing this relationship between work and art as a freelance engineer, as oftentimes gigs come few and far between. Daniel also explores community within engineering, Covid’s effects on the sound engineering industry, and the joy he finds in training the next generation of sound engineers.
