In this interview, Olive Peppercorn (she/her) discusses her experience growing up in Maryland. She talks about her experiences with queer visibility in her comparatively progressive southern town, and the way that this effects her own teaching methodologies as a lesbian educator. She currently works in a private school on the Upper West Side, and she discusses her experience as a camp counselor and camp director at a summer camp in Brooklyn. She talks about the ways she tries to bring queer education into these spaces, and she goes into detail regarding the way in which she brought modern concepts of sex and gender to an ‘all girls’ summer camp.
